Tedeschi Trucks Band continued its triumphant Deuces Wild tour on Wednesday with another powerful performance at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. After commencing a two-night stay at the historic venue on Tuesday, the 12-piece ensemble led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi brought the house down with a setlist full of originals and well-curated covers that showcased their expansive musical range.

Susan Tedeschi’s vocals soared on the opening “Anyhow”, dripping with emotion as she led the band through the soulful ballad. The energy picked up with “Hear My Dear” and “Playing With My Emotions”, where Tedeschi’s raw vocal power was balanced by Trucks’ signature slide guitar.

One of the night’s first major highlights came with a blistering cover of Blind Willie McTell’s “Statesboro Blues”. With Trucks’ searing slide guitar solo, it was the perfect contrast to the heart-wrenching “Crying Over You”, where Mike Mattison stepped into the spotlight, delivering a soulful and stirring vocal performance.

Ballads like “Ball and Chain” and “Yes We Will” gave the band a chance to slow things down, but it wasn’t long before the band brought the energy back up, closing out the first set with the rhythmically complex “Idle Wind”. The song’s extended drum interlude allowed drummers Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell and Isaac Eady to shine, their syncopated rhythms adding a vibrant layer to the already dynamic track.

Set two opened with a fiery cover of Son House’s “Preachin’ Blues”, where Trucks once again channeled the primal power of the Delta blues. Next TTB treated the crowd to a sultry rendition of “Don’t Let Me Slide”, which featured Tedeschi’s emotive vocals front and center. TTB’s versatility was on full display with Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic”, where the horn section, led by Kebbi Williams, gave the tune a rich, soulful texture.

Another standout moment came with a cover of Derek and the Dominos’ “Anyday”. Trucks teased Duane Allman’s iconic “Blue Sky” solo in a nod to his Allman Brothers Band roots. The band followed this up with a string of classics, including Prince’s “1999” and a rowdy version of “Made Up Mind” that brought the second set to a powerful crescendo.

As the night wound down, Tedeschi poured her heart into a moving rendition of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery”, which seamlessly flowed into Jerry Garcia’s “Sugaree”—two songs that showcased Tedeschi’s storytelling ability

The evening ended on a high note with a spirited encore of “Let’s Go Get Stoned”, originally by The Coasters, sending the audience out on a feel-good high.
