Following last week’s multi-night runs in Washington, DC and Red Bank, NJ, Tedeschi Trucks Band made their way to the Capitol Theatre for their first of two nights in Port Chester, NY. The husband-and-wife duo led their rock and soul powerhouse through two full sets that were also live streamed through the Relix YouTube channel. The twelve-piece ensemble rocked their way through a 2+ hour set, featuring a reliable mix of originals and covers.

Set one opened with three career-spanning originals, including Made Up Mind‘s “Do I Look Worried” (2013), Let Me Get By‘s “Just As Strange” (2016), and Revelator‘s “Until You Remember” (2011). From there, the band introduced the first blues cover of the night, Charlie Segar‘s “Key to the Highway” which featured dominating guitar solos from both Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. The Derek Trucks Band‘s “Don’t Miss Me” came next, followed by Neil Young‘s “Alabama”, and Susan Tedeschi’s recently-revived original “Talking About” from her 2008 solo record, Back to the River. The first set closed with an intoxicating “Idle Wind” before the band took a 30+ minute set break.

Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the stage for the second set with a fiery version of Blind Willie McTell‘s “Statesboro Blues”, a song Trucks played often during his tenure with the Allman Brothers Band. From there, the band strung together four fan-favorite originals, Made Up Mind‘s “Part of Me” and “It’s So Heavy”, and the title track and “Right On Time” from Let Me Get By.

St. Louis Jimmy Ogden‘s “Goin’ Down Slow” came next, followed by the Made Up Mind title track. Continuing with the night’s blues theme, the second set closed with Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers‘ “How Blue Can You Get?” and Billy Taylor‘s “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free”.

For the encore, Tedeschi Trucks Band played their relatively newly-introduced cover of Tom Petty‘s “You Don’t Know How It Feels” before capping the night with their own “Laugh About It”. Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to the Capitol Theatre tonight–where they will once again offer a free live stream–before heading to Nashville, TN for their first of four nights at the Ryman Auditorium over the next two weekends. You can watch the full stream from Tuesday night’s show below, thanks to Jonathan Healey:
