On Sunday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band rolled into Charleston’s Volvo Car Stadium with The Marcus King Band and Drive-By Truckers for the third stop on their 2018 Wheels of Soul tour, following shows in Jacksonville and Tuscaloosa.

Saturday night’s Tuscaloosa show saw members of Tedeschi Trucks Band—including Derek TrucksMike MattisonMark Rivers, and Alecia Chakour—sit in with Drive-By Truckers during their set, and the Truckers’ Patterson Hood and his father, David Hood, return the favor with a sit-in during TTB’s headlining set. While it customarily takes a few shows for everyone to get comfortable with their Wheels of Soul touring partners before commencing with the sit-ins, the second night of the run saw the mix-and-matching begin early. On the third night of the tour, the headlining band welcomed young guitarist/vocalist Marcus King to join them for a pair of songs.

After opening sets from Marcus King Band and Drive-By Truckers, Tedeschi Trucks Band took the stage for their headlining set, opening with a cover of Derek and the Dominos‘ “Tell The Truth”. While this cover was shelved for nearly a decade, it reemerged earlier this year, with the Charleston version marking the fourth in three months. Tedeschi Trucks Band originals “Part of Me”, “Laugh About It”, “Let Me Get By”, “Midnight In Harlem”, and “Shame” highlighted the extended set, which weaved together impressive covers of Leonard Cohen‘s “Bird on the Wire”, Bob Dylan‘s “Down in the Flood”—another recently reintroduced rarity of 2018—Tom Petty‘s “You Don’t Know How It Feels”, The Derek Trucks Band‘s “Get What You Deserve”, Bobby “Blue” Bland‘s “I Pity The Fool”, and Joe Cocker‘s “Space Captain”.

For the encore, the twelve-piece ensemble welcomed out Marcus King for covers of Sleepy John Estes‘ “Leaving Trunk” and Joe Tex‘s “Show Me”, played by TTB for the third time this year and the fourth time ever. Watch a clip of King and Trucks trading licks below via Instagram user @chdavidson96:
