Tenacious D has announced The Purple Nurple Tour – Twisting Hard To The Left! which will take the comedy-metal duo through key swing states in the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
“Donald Trump has proven to be the most divisive, corrupt and dangerous President in the modern history of this country,” Tenacious D said in a statement. “And we simply cannot stand for another four years of his administration! Now is the time to elect a REAL leader”

The tour will hit the major presidential swing states, including Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, in addition to high-profile appearances at Washington, D.C.’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 4th, and New York’s Radio City Music Hall on October 9th. The show at MPP will also feature special guest Soulful Symphony, who will add an orchestral element to the band’s dynamic live performances.
“In 2016, six states were decided by 2 percentage points or less, and ten states were decided by 4 percentage points or less,” Tenacious D said. “Swing states played a pivotal role in the outcome of that election, and they will again in 2020. Knowing that, we looked at each other and agreed: just like the tale of Post-Apocalypto, it is time for Tenacious D to RIDE and help save the world from Trumpian destruction. With great rock comes great responsibility.”
The tour is being presented in partnership with 46 for 46, a campaign of musicians playing 46 concerts in 46 days around the country in an effort to encourage voting. Other members of the 46 for 46 concerts campaign include Bon Iver, Nathaniel Rateliff, Dashboard Confessional, and more.
Tickets for Tenacious D’s The Purple Nurple Tour go on sale on Friday, March 6th at 10 a.m. local time through the band’s website. See a full list of dates below.
