I don’t know if you heard, but there was a music award show last night. For seriously. It was on the television!!
All joking aside, the 56th annual Grammy Award ceremony was held in Los Angeles last night. Hosted by musician/actor LL Cool J, the ceremony showcased musicians old and new to a whopping television audience of 28.5 million people. Electronica duo Daft Punk were the big winners of the ceremony, and their performance of “Get Lucky,” along with Pharrell Williams and master musician Stevie Wonder, was easily one of the show’s highlights.

The show also included a mass-marriage by Queen Latifah, a tribute to Phil Everly from Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones, and a Beatles-reunion with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who earned the Grammy for Lifetime Achievement. The duo performed “Queenie Eye,” a song from Paul’s latest solo album New, which was released last October. You can read the L4LM review here, and you can watch the Beatles reunion performance below:

The award show also featured a particularly cringe-worthy performance by Madonna. In the clip, Madonna is preceded by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and Mary Lambert. I guess these are all contemporary pop singers. They all sound decent enough, but just wait for that magical moment of Madonnical misery…
