Genre-blending trio The All’s Eye—comprised of guitarist Ari Joshua, drummer Ben Atkind (Elephantproof, formerly of Goose), and keyboardist Kris Yunker (Bearly Dead, formerly of Goose)—has shared a new EP highlighting the band’s collaborative chemistry and stylistic range via Joshua’s Music Factory Records.
Following the band’s recent Allman Brothers Band-inspired single “The Simian”, the new EP was recorded live at Barbershop Studios in Hopatcong, NJ and includes bold new versions of two Ari Joshua originals—“Gramama”, a soulful bluegrass tribute to Joshua’s late Granny Queenie, and “Say What You Wanna Say”, a tune Joshua originally composed for a boogaloo session featuring Skerik and Delvon Lamarr. Multi-camera footage of the session will air later this year as part of Emmy-winning producer Matt Rifino’s Saturday Sessions series, but the EP is available now on streaming platforms.
The tracks arrive just as The All’s Eye gears up for a string of East Coast performances, including shows with Blahsum this Friday, April 11th at Umbra in Brooklyn, NY and with Kung Fu the following night (4/12) at Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport, CT. The Ari Joshua Band will also play a pair of Phish after-parties on April 18th and 19th at Queen Anne Beer Hall in Seattle, WA.
A more polished studio version of “Say What You Wanna Say” is slated for release on May 9th. Joshua also has plans to release a pair of tracks featuring John Medeski and Billy Martin—”Blurry Face”, which is due out on April 23rd, and “Reversible Submersible”, which will follow in May.
Ben Atkind will hit the road with House Plant before linking up with DJ Logic & Friends in Gloucester, MA on 4/20. He’ll also join Club d’Elf at Flying Monkey in Plymouth, NH on April 26th.
Kris Yunker is on tour with Bearly Dead, with shows throughout April in Wilmington, VT (4/19), Woodstock, NY (4/20), Concord, NH (4/25), Arundel, ME (4/26), and Richmond, VA (4/30).
