One of the most iconic songs written by John Lennon is “Revolution”, a Beatles classic that symbolized the dissatisfied feeling of American youth in the late 1960’s. Originally released as the B-side single to “Hey Jude” in 1968, two alternate variations appeared on The White Album, as a slowed-down bluesy number “Revolution 1” and an experimental session, “Revolution 9”.
While the song never reached #1 in America (it did, however, reach #1 in New Zealand), a vivid video of the Beatles performing the song has been released in anticipation for the upcoming deluxe reissue of Beatles 1. Watch the Beatles rocking it out below:
Released in 2000, Beatles 1 was an exceptional compilation album, featuring nearly all of the #1 hits released by the Beatles between 1962-1970. The box set is getting an extensive re-release later this year, with a number of promotional videos included. The most expansive re-release option is a package called Beatles 1+, which includes a bonus DVD packed with alternate videos, as well as a 124-page hardcover booklet chronicling the release and the band.
Pre-orders are available here, and the set is due out on November 6th.
