After kicking off their tour in support of their forthcoming album over the weekend with shows in Durant, OK and Colorado Springs, The Black Keys brought their No Rain, No Flowers Tour to Morrison, CO on Tuesday for a mid-week rendezvous at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The Akron, OH-bred garage blues revivalists-turned-pop rock giants delivered a career-spanning performance, kicking things off with just the original core duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, who performed a nostalgic medley of the title track from 2003’s Thickfreakness and two tunes from 2002’s The Big Come Up, “The Breaks” and “I’ll Be Your Man”.

The hits continued with selections from the band’s Danger Mouse era like “Howlin’ for You”, a standout single from 2010’s Brothers, and “Gold on the Ceiling”, off the subsequently released El Camino (2011), which marked The Black Keys’ mainstream breakthrough.

In addition to running through the classics, The Black Keys touted their most recent release, “No Rain, No Flowers”—the title track from their forthcoming album, out August 8th. The new song, released just two weeks ago, was followed by the night’s only cover: a gritty, soulful take on Gladys Knight & the Pips’ Motown classic “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”.

They wrapped the main set with “Heavy Soul” and “She’s Long Gone” before returning for a powerful encore featuring two more Danger Mouse-produced staples from the band’s commercial peak: the brooding “Little Black Submarines” and the once-ubiquitous “Lonely Boy”.
