Beloved South Florida sacred steel family band The Leeboys featuring Roosevelt Collier will mark their 25th anniversary on February 15th, 2026 with a one-night-only reunion at Boca Raton, FL’s The Funky Biscuit. The rare Leeboys performance is set to feature support from Melody Trucks and The Fitzkee Brothers [get tickets].
The Leeboys—comprised of brothers Alvin “Big Al” Lee (guitar), Derrick Lee (vocals), Keith Lee (vocals) along with their nephews Roosevelt Collier (pedal steel guitar), Alvin “Lil’ Al”Cordy Jr. (7-string bass) and Earl “Big E” Walker (drums)—got their start playing music via Miami’s House of God Church, where their patriarch was a pastor and pedal steel player himself. The “sacred steel” sound they eventually took on the road is rooted in that tradition, mixing Gospel music driving, a driving, blues beat and mixing in elements of R&B, jazz, rock, funk, hip-hop, country, and beyond.
In recent years, the band has continued to tour without Collier as the pedal steel master has become an increasingly in-demand player for acts like country hitmaker Jelly Roll and modern-day Allman Brothers Band tribute act Trouble No More, among others. When Collier left the band to embark on his solo path, he left a space open for upcoming sacred steel players to step in the spot light and continue the Leeboys tradition on the road.
In addition to leading the Leeboys, Alvin Lee continues to host the premier annual Sacred Steel Summit at the Florida Folk Festival. In 2022, the group received the Florida Folk Heritage Award for “their contributions that led to a greater appreciation and recognition of the importance of traditional arts and artists in our state.” The reunion show at The Funky Biscuits on February 25th will mark Collier’s first live show with the family band in more than a decade.
Pro tip: While Roosevelt Collier, a Jam Cruise regular, will not be on this year’s sailing, the Leeboys 25th anniversary show at The Funky Biscuit takes place the weekend the boat returns to Miami just an hour’s drive north from the port—in case any Jam Cruisers are up for some bonus once they hit land.
