The Montana Sessions has announced the artist lineup for its third season, due to premiere this spring. Produced by Los Angeles- and Bozeman-based production company 4:08 Productions, the Emmy-nominated short film series highlights the great state of Montana by showcasing unique performances by its best and brightest musical talents in some of its most stunning natural locales. The series was made possible by a grant from The Greater Montana Foundation with additional support from The Montana Arts Council and Live For Live Music.

The Montana Sessions‘ eight-episode third season will feature two performances each by Montana favorites The Lucky Valentines, Kitchen Dwellers, Kevin Van Dort, and Matt Wallin & His Nervous Breakdown. New episodes will debut twice per week throughout April and into May via the 4:08 Productions YouTube page and Live For Live Music, beginning on Monday, April 10th at 12:00 p.m. MT.

Episodes one and two will feature The Lucky Valentines, a husband and wife duo with nearly 15 years of experience making music together, will captivate audiences with folk-infused rhythms and melodies while suspended over the Missouri River on the historic truss bridge in Fort Benton, one of the oldest settlements in Montana. For episodes three and four, contemporary bluegrass explorers Kitchen Dwellers, one of Bozeman’s most prominent bands, will perform two new tracks from their latest album, Wise River, against the stunning backdrop of Paradise Valley. Western Montana native Kevin Van Dort will offer up his haunting brand of minimalist “mountain soul” from the scenic shores of Lake Five for episodes five and six, while Matt Wallin & His Nervous Breakdown will enchant viewers with country storytelling from the ruggedly beautiful Bridger Mountains for the season’s final two installments.

The Montana Sessions is directed by Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker and 4:08 Productions founder Nic Davis. He made his feature film debut in 2021 with his Enormous: The Gorge Story, the star-studded documentary about beloved George, WA natural amphitheater The Gorge. He has released two more feature films since the beginning of this year, Ivan Doig: Landscapes of a Western Mind, about Montana author Ivan Doig, and 21 Miles, about the local societal ripples caused by Malibu, CA’s Pacific Coast Highway.

“We are thrilled to bring viewers the third season of The Montana Sessions,” Nic Davis said of The Montana Sessions season three. “Over the past 6 years our crew has worked through the Montana snow, rain, and high winds to capture these sessions in unique locations around the state. The environment that they are filmed in is such a critical part of the series—for the visual beauty of the backdrops, but also for the inspiration it brings to all of the performances. I am so proud of our crew, and the musicians featured, that make them all happen outside of the traditional studio environment. We can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
