The 18th volume of the Grateful Dead Dave’s Picks series has been announced and will feature the July 17, 1976 show from the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. The penultimate gig to an electric six-night run at the Orpheum, the new Dave’s Picks captures the Dead at a time of flux, as the band had taken their first true hiatus from the road following only a handful of gigs in the previous year and a half.

For those who order the year-long Dave’s Picks subscription, you will be rewarded with a bonus disc featuring selections from the previous evening’s second set. Disc three of the new Dave’s Picks will offer the first set of the July 16 show, so essentially, if you buy the subscription, you’ll be getting a two-show, four-disc box set highlighting a very special time in the Dead’s history.
