Ever since Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon was found to match up with the classic film The Wizard Of Oz, Floyd fans have sought out movies that fit with the iconic album. Some fans on Reddit actually hit the jackpot, it seems, as the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, synchronizes quite nicely with DSOTM, if the album is played three times over.

If the album is started immediately after the opening text scrolls past the screen, a number of interesting similarities occur between the movie and music. You can watch the first eight minutes of each, and judge for yourself:

A full list of similarities can be found on Reddit, but here are a few selections worth mentioning. Spoiler alert…

-“Time” synchronizes with the character Rey’s introductory scene, showing her daily life and struggles.

-The line “God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do” comes when Kylo Ren looks around at the destruction on Maz’s home planet

-Chatter about being “mad” comes when Kylo tries to use Jedi mind tricks on Rey.

-The final refrains “I’ll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon” come right as the cameras reveal Luke Skywalker at the very end of the film.

There are more references on Reddit, suggesting that, at the very least, this synchronization is well worth the effort. Was this planned? What do you think…
