The Red Clay Strays will capitalize on their meteoric rise with their new sophomore album, Made by These Moments, out July 26th via RCA Records. Along with the album announcement, the Mobile, AL-bred country-rock band has shared the lead single “Wanna Be Loved” and 14 new tour dates.
After their single “Wondering Why” went viral on TikTok last year, The Red Clay Strays are hotter in the Americana scene than butter melting on a warm biscuit. The song peaked at #71 on the band’s first-ever trip to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold-out shows across the country soon followed. This year, the band will keep the momentum going with an aggressive tour schedule from May through November, including a show opening for The Rolling Stones at Gillette Stadium outside Boston.
Red Clay Strays signed with RCA Records earlier this year and inked a publishing deal with a Warner Music Group subsidiary, which no doubt helped open the door of famed alt-country producer Dave Cobb‘s (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell) Georgia Mae studio in Savannah. Though success has certainly catapulted The Red Clay Strays to a higher strata than they could have possibly imagined when they came together just six years ago, Made by These Moments lead single “Wanna Be Loved” shows that fame has not (yet) spoiled the band. The penitent song lays bare the need lead singer Brandon Coleman and all of us have to be loved and the anxieties associated with not getting it. Soaring Skynyrd slide guitar melds with Coleman’s rockabilly falsetto, all cloaked in hat-in-hand Southern humility and a lyrical honesty inherent to roots music regardless of what your streaming numbers are.
“Made by These Moments shines a light on overcoming the battles we face in life like loneliness, depression, and hopelessness,” Coleman said of the new ten-track offering. “We hope you listen and recognize that our pain has a purpose.”
In addition to the single and accompanying music video, Red Clay Strays have added 14 new shows in high-profile locations across the U.S. including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Boston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and a Halloween show at Denver’s Mission Ballroom. These add to a breakneck tour schedule already dotted with sold-out shows including three-night runs at The Caverns and Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium. See below for a full list of tour dates and visit the band’s website for tickets. A pre-sale for all newly announced shows begins Tuesday, May 28th at 9 a.m. local time followed by the general on-sale Friday, May 31st at 10 a.m. local time.
