Today, The Revivalists have announced their partnership with Revolutions Per Minute to benefit Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund with the release of a limited edition 7″ vinyl single of their brand new anti-gun violence song, “Shoot You Down.” On top of that, they’ve revealed their plans for New Year’s Eve with Tank and the Bangas on December 31st at Mardi Gras World in their hometown of New Orleans.

The “Shoot You Down” vinyl, which also features recently-released “You And I” on Side B, is exclusively available at independent record stores around the country, “who are being encouraged to work with local Everytown chapters to support the grassroots movement for gun safety.”

Sales of the limited edition 7″ will benefit Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund. The vinyl’s color holds special significance, as orange has been the defining color of the gun violence prevention movement ever since Hadiya Pendleton‘s friends began to wear orange in her honor after she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15 in 2013. Everytown is leading a movement of more than 4 million Americans working to end gun violence and build safer communities.

As the official press release details:

Deeply affected by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida earlier this year, The Revivalists felt compelled to put pen to paper and speak to the overwhelming gun violence problem in our society. The result is a powerful song that serves as both an emotional balm amidst tragedies like Parkland and others like it, and, more importantly, a call to action.

“‘Shoot You Down’ is a song that was written straight from the heart earlier this year,” says frontman David Shaw in a press release. “It’s an anti-gun violence song meant to bring awareness to a very serious and increasing issue that we currently have in this country. We believe that music has the power to change minds and lives. This is our pledge to survivors and victims. We love you and we are with you. Together we will make a change. Our hearts go out to the victims of the horrific shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh as well as their family, friends and all those affected. We stand with you. Let’s show each other love, compassion and understanding. Hate has no place in our world.”

In support of this new partnership and physical release. The Revivalists have also released the live video of “Shoot You Down” from their recent sold-out headlining performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

The Revivalists will release their next studio album, Take Good Care, on November 9th via Loma Vista Recordings. For more information on all this, head to The Revivalists’ official website.
