The Rolling Stones Announce ‘Goat’s Head Soup’ Reissue, Share Unreleased Track “Criss Cross” [Video]

The Rolling Stones have announced a deluxe reissue of their 1973 Goat’s Head Soup studio album which will feature stereo remixes of rarities, outtakes, alternative mixes, and unreleased songs from the original recording sessions.

Confirmed on Thursday, fans will have the option to purchase the Goat’s Head Soup reissue on a single or double-disc CD package, various vinyl editions, and a four-CD box set. The deluxe reissue box set will include a live album recorded at the Forest National Arena in Brussels, Belgium in October 1973, along with a 120-page archive book and four posters.

The three unreleased songs to be included are “Criss Cross” (already known within the bootleg circuit as “Criss Cross Man”), “All the Rage”, and “Scarlet”. Notably, the latter two feature guitar playing from Led Zeppelin‘s Jimmy Page.

A press statement shared by the band with Thursday’s announcement reads,

The layered guitar textures of “Scarlet” make for a track that’s as infectious and raunchy as anything the band cut in this hallowed era. As well as Jimmy Page guesting alongside Mick and Keith on the track it also features on bass Rick Grech of Blind Faith fame…”All the Rage” has a wild, post-“Brown Sugar” strut and the percussive “Criss Cross’”rocks and swaggers as only the Stones can.
