After playing for over one million people in Cuba, The Rolling Stones hit the studio and laid down a number of tracks for a new album. The band recently confirmed the new record, being the first since 2005, as having “a blues streak.” Guitarist Ronnie Wood explained, “We cut 11 blues in two days. They are extremely great cover versions of Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter, among other blues people. But they really sound authentic.”

A new report from British tabloid The Sun reveals that Eric Clapton is featured on two of those eleven tracks. The band reportedly asked Clapton to play with them after bumping into him at their London studio. A source “close to the band” told The Sun, “Eric was in the next studio along so he came in to say hello… They ended up jamming and recorded two songs.” With producer Don Was at the table, the source continued it was “the best thing he has ever done with the Stones, then added, “They have decided to go back in the studio later this month because they are enjoying it so much.”

Last year, The Rolling Stones released an alternative version of “Brown Sugar” featuring Clapton on guitar, which you can listen to here. This will however be the first time the two worlds come together in the studio to create new music. What an exciting time in rock and roll!
