The Rolling Stones dug into their archive for a long-lost version of “Troubles A’ Coming” for the upcoming Tattoo You reissue. The expanded version of the Stones’ 1981 album is out on October 22nd via Polydor/Interscope/UMe.

Originally recorded in Paris in 1979, “Troubles A’ Coming” captures that vintage Rolling Stones sound. This cover of the Chi-Lites gets a fresh edge courtesy of Keith Richards‘ searing, fuzzed-out guitar leads and drummer Charlie Watts‘ disco-tinged backbeat. The single is just one of many nearly-forgotten gems included on the Tattoo You “Lost & Found: Rarities” disc. Mick Jagger recently revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that “Troubles A’ Coming” has entered the band’s live repertoire for the North American No Filter tour, currently in progress.

The newly remastered Tattoo You (40th Anniversary) will feature the original 11-track recording, hosting such hits as the iconic opening track “Start Me Up”, “Hang Fire”, “Waiting On A Friend”, and more. Additionally, the expanded edition will contain the nine-song “Lost & Found” CD with “Troubles A’ Coming”, “Living In The Heart Of Love“, and other seemingly-forgotten tracks along with an early version of “Start Me Up”. In addition to the studio material, The Stones will also include live audio of the group’s two-night stand at Wembley Stadium in London on June 25th and 26th, 1982.
