The Slip closed out the band’s first full-fledged tour since 2011 with a show at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY on Sunday. The concert saw Woodstock resident and longtime collaborator Marco Benevento sit in on organ for most of the second set.

The last show of a six-date tour for The Slip—comprised of guitarist Brad Barr, bassist Marc Friedman, and drummer Andrew Barr—began with “Suffocation Keep”. JamBase notes that the song has not been performed since January 20th, 2010. The first frame carried on with “Trane-ing”, followed by “Bloodstone”. The latter was debuted on 11/19/21 at Brooklyn Bowl, and a setlist provided by Scott Marks notes the title is a tentative name. “Aptos” came next ahead of a set-closing pairing of “Sometimes True To Nothing” into “Motherwolf”.

The Slip returned for the second frame with Benevento in tow, as the Joe Russo’s Almost Dead keyboardist lent his hands to “If One Of Us Should Fall”, off 2003’s Alivelectric. Benevento recorded and toured with The Slip in the group Surprise Me Mr. Davis, appearing on the band’s lone album, 2010’s That Man Eats Morning For Breakfast.

The extended ensemble continued with “Chasing Rabbits” ahead of “Jumby” and “Yellow Medicine”. Benevento briefly departed for the trio to take on “Through The Iron Gates” into an unfinished “Life In Disguise”. Marco re-entered the chat even though the music didn’t stop for a moment, lending the ivories to John Lennon‘s “Jealous Guy” ahead of a set-closing “Honey Melon”.

Returning to the Levon Helm Studios stage one last time, The Slip and Benevento offered a unique and lively take on The Band‘s “The Weight”. The upbeat rendition of the Music From Big Pink classic was imbued with jazzy organ textures from Benevento as Andrew matched the intensity with his tempo. The show, and The Slip’s tour, then came to a close with a segue into the outro of “Dogs On Bikes”.
