On Tuesday, The Smashing Pumpkins shared the fourth episode of their five-part animated series In Ashes. This next-to-last episode, entitled “Owl Wait”, features the band’s single “Wyttch” as the soundtrack, and comes ahead of the November 27th release of Cyr.
This latest episode follows the previous three installments of In Ashes, which employed the singles “The Colour Of Your Love“, “Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict“, and “Anno Satana“. With this episode of In Ashes, The Smashing Pumpkins have now released “Wyttch” in three different formats–once as just audio, another with a live-action music video, and now with the animated accompaniment.

In this penultimate chapter of In Ashes, the Pumpkins continue the linear storyline set up in the previous installments. With the video’s protagonists inside the belly of the beast in this dystopian society, it appears that all hope may be lost. Yet, as they are prepared for some sort of ritual—perhaps even a sacrifice—salvation comes in the form of electronic brainwashing that controls the legions of cloaked followers. Before long, the main characters are on the run once again as they head toward a civilization off in the distance, setting up the forthcoming final chapter.
