In addition to marking the ninth annual Tipping Point concert, this year will also commemorate 20 years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. The Crescent City’s unshakable spirit of resilience will be on full display at the concert, featuring a house band led by Krasno with most of the Dumpstaphunk lineup: keyboardist Ivan Neville, bassist Tony Hall, plus the horn section of trumpeter Ashlin Parker, tenor saxophonist Brad Walker, and trombonist Alex Wasily, as well as former Dumpstaphunk drummer Raymond Webber.

A rotating cast of greats from the Big Easy and beyond will join the Tipping Point house band, including blues legend Taj Mahal, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dawes brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, and vocalist Amy Helm.

“The Tipping Point brings some of the country’s top musicians together for a special evening devoted to ensuring that cost is no barrier for any student who dreams of pursuing a Tulane education,” said Tulane President Michael A. Fitts. “As we reflect on the 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, this concert embodies our shared commitment to expanding opportunity for students who will shape the future of New Orleans.”

The Tipping Point is produced by RWE Partners, the same company behind other benefit concerts Love Rocks NYC and The Soho Sessions. To date, RWE has raised over $75 million for non-profits nationwide. Funds from The Tipping Point go toward Tulane’s scholarship endowment, allowing over 85% of students to receive some sort of financial aid. All students are considered for merit-based scholarships that are need-blind, while the university also offers need-based aid awards and programs.

“The Tipping Point thrives because of the extraordinary talent that has always been at the heart of New Orleans,” said RWE Partners co-founder Nicole Rechter. “Each year we’re honored to unite that homegrown brilliance with artists from across the country, creating a one-night celebration that supports the city and carries forward the legacy of its music.”
