Lighting Directors are the unsung heroes of the live music industry. Their creative decisions can make or break an artist’s performance, and yet their names are never on the marquee. Last week, The Wood Brothers Lighting Director Travis Hanson got a taste of the recognition he deserves, though, when he received a regional Emmy award for his work lighting the band’s concert that was televised locally on PBS.
“We’re so proud of this guy and lucky to have this guy as part of our touring family! If you’ve been to any of our live shows in the past three years, you’ve seen our lighting director, Travis Hanson, doing what he loves,” The Wood Brothers wrote in a post praising Hanson for his achievement. “This past week, he received AN ACTUAL REGIONAL EMMY for a show at @bellyuptavern from 2022 that was televised on @pbssocal We love seeing you shine buddy!”
