The Word, featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski and the North Mississippi Allstars (Luther & Cody Dickinson and Chris Chew), have been playing together sporadically over the last 14 years. They recently announced their second proper studio recording, Soul Food, and continue to add tour dates in support of the album. Soul Food will be released on May 5th (via Vanguard Records), but the first single from the album “Come By Here” was released today.

The group will play the Wanee Festival on April 17th, then two separate New Orleans shows: on the 26th at the Joy Theater, for a JazzFest late night, and on the 30th at JazzFest proper. In May, the group will play the Hangout Festival, followed by appearances at All Good Festival and Forecastle in July.
