In an interview with Huffington Post this past Friday EDM superstar Tiesto verbalized his lack of enthusiasm towards Daft Punk’s newest album Random Access Memories. Tiesto stated that “it got so much attention because it’s so different and it’s an attitude album. Its cool to like Daft Punk. Even if you’re not into the song, as soon as you hear “Get Lucky,” you see all the cool people go ‘oh yeah, this is cool, thats my song’ and they don’t even really enjoy it.”

Tiesto went on to state that he really enjoys the bands older releases such as the “Homework” LP but says the “Tron” soundtrack wasn’t great and this album isn’t either. According to Tiesto the music doesn’t deliver on the hype. Despite his ambivalence towards Daft Punk’s latest releases Tiesto was excited and honored to meet their recent collaborator Giorgio Moroder, who worked with the pair on Random Access Memories. One of Tiesto’s heroes during his youth, Moroder attended Tiesto’s set during EDC Las Vegas. For the entire 3 hours. “He’s in his seventies and still rocking strong” stated Tiesto, and while the two didn’t have much a of a chance to speak during the show, they did have time to take some shots and exchange phone numbers.
