If you don’t remember every word to “No Scrubs,” you’re either lying or didn’t grow up in the 90s. One of the most prominent and badass female R&B groups of our youths, TLC, is returning (sans the deceased Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes) with their first new album since “3D” in 2002. Remaining members T–Boz and Chilli hope to make a comeback, but are seeking fans’ help to do so.
The Kickstarter fund, launched today, aims to raise $150,000 to fund their new project. According to NY Daily News, Chilli explains,
“People may say, ‘Hey, you are celebrities. Why can’t you just pay for it yourself?’ But it doesn’t work that way. There’s a lot that goes into it. We want to bring our fans into the process and see how it’s done.”
The group has been known to have financial troubles even in their prime, having filed for bankruptcy in 1996 despite several multi-platinum albums and countless hits.
Prizes for those who donate include exclusive tracks, VIP tickets, custom voicemails from the ladies and an in-person fitness class from Chilli herself. If you’re feeling so inclined, here’s the link to donate.
And just because, here’s to the good old days…
