After over a year off the road, troubadour Todd Snider will get back on the road with a fresh crop of tour dates. For the run of shows Snider has dubbed “The Comeback Special”, the John Prine disciple will record a new live album, Return Of The Storyteller.

Announced on Wednesday, Return Of The Storyteller will mark the first live album from Todd since 2011’s Todd Snider Live: The Storyteller. For this upcoming live release, Snider will record tracks at over 50 venues across the country that, just like the singer-songwriter himself, are finally reopening for business. From the six months’ worth of concert dates Snider has lined up, he and his Aimless Records team will widdle down the best and brightest songs for release in 2022.

“After Coronavirus, I knew I wanted to release a live album of this tour and call it ‘The Comeback Special,'” Snider said in a statement. “Being unable to tour for more than a year has given me the opportunity to work on new songs and covers, and practice old material. I want the people to be part of my upcoming album and to release something special for those that missed live concerts as much as I have.”

Snider will return to live performances on July 24th with a sold-out show at The Caverns in Pelham, TN, marking his first show since the pandemic began and one of the first underground concerts at The Caverns since March 2020. Even a global pandemic couldn’t stop Snider from sharing his music and witticisms with the world, which he did nearly every Sunday during his weekly livestream series, most recently titled The Get Together. An earlier iteration of the weekly stream, The First Agnostic Church of Hope and Wonder, inspired Snider’s latest studio album of the same name. Released back in April, First Agnostic Church blended touching tributes to fallen friends and heroes like Prine, Jerry Jeff WalkerJeff AustinNeal Casal, and more with a rivetingly hilarious concept album telling the story of a crooked preacher who is ultimately saved by a God with the same twisted sense of humor Snider possesses.
