Disc Jam Music Festival got off on the right foot yesterday, with Pink Talking Fish headlining on the Live for Live Music stage. The band kept it loose, bringing their signature hybrid tribute fusion sound to those in attendance. Todd Stoops sat in for a cover of The Talking Heads’ “Girlfriend is Better”, jamming the tune delightfully.

Kung Fu Parts Ways With Founding Keyboardist Todd Stoops

The collaboration is noteworthy, as PTF’s Eric Gould will team up with Stoops, as well as Neal Evans and Andrew Block to perform as the Ex-Presidents, a band comprised of former band members. Gould was once in Particle, Evans was in Dopapod, Block played guitar for Gramatik, and Stoops was recently let go from Kung Fu. They’ll make their debut at the Backwoods Pondfest in August.

The Disc Jam show also saw PTF guitarist Dave Brunyak smash his guitar at the end of “Carini,” a la Pete Townshend. Disc Jam continues today with sets from Consider the Source, Kung Fu, Lettuce, & more!
