On Tuesday, Trey Anastasio announced that his Between Me & My Mind documentary will be released via iTunes and Amazon on Friday, October 11th.
The documentary originally premiered at the Beacon Theatre as part of the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Between Me & My Mind follows Anastasio and his Phish bandmates through the preparation process of 2017’s Baker’s Dozen run at Madison Square Garden, the crafting of the “Soul Planet” New Year’s Eve gag—when they transformed the World’s Most Famous Arena into a pirate ship–and the emotional and often uncertain process of creating Ghosts of the Forest as Trey’s dear friend Chris “C-Cott” Cottrell struggled with and eventually succumbed to his stage 4 cancer diagnosis. The documentary also features heartfelt one-on-one conversations between Trey and his father, his mother, his wife, and his two daughters.
Between Me & My Mind was directed by Jamie Schutz and Steven Cantor, and produced by Schutz. A Phish fan since 1992, Schutz started trading tapes and dreaming of a career in film. Now, 24 years later, Between Me & My Mind marks his feature directorial debut. Canton, a veteran filmmaker and fellow music lover, has directed a plethora of critically acclaimed documentaries including Dancer, Willie Nelson: Still Is Still Moving, the Oscar-nominated Blood Ties: The Life & Work Of Sally Mann, the ESPN 30 For 30 Chasing Tyson and many more.
Fans can head here to pre-order Between Me & My Mind from iTunes now.
