On Monday night, Trey Anastasio continued his ongoing solo acoustic tour with a performance at the Pablo Center at the Confluence in Eau Claire, WI.
Trey Anastasio opened up his set with a number of Phish tunes including “Blaze On”, “Theme From The Bottom”, “Brian and Robert”, and “All Of These Dreams”. Trey reflected on the similarities between Eau Claire and Burlington, VT, the city where Phish formed and took off as a band. Trey continued with the tour debut of Trey Anastasio Band staple “Sweet Dreams Melinda”, which was followed by “Twenty Years Later”, “Sample In A Jar”, Wolfman’s Brother”, “The Inlaw Josie Wales”, “Back On The Train”, and “Fluffhead”. This rendition of “Fluffhead” marked the first Trey solo performance of the Phish classic since May 8th, 1999.
The set continued with the acoustic debut of “Ruby Waves” before Trey mixed Phish classics with Ghosts of the Forest material including “Winterqueen”, “Till We Meet Again”, “Ghosts of the Forest”, “If I Could”, “Sand”, “A Life Beyond The Dream”, “Billy Breathes”, and “Strange Design”. Trey explained that he wrote both “Billy Breathes” and “Strange Design” for his oldest daughter, Eliza Anastasio.
Trey then exclaimed, “You guys need to forgive me, this is a song that I love and I’m going to play a tiny little version of it so I’ll do the best I can,” before debuting Bon Iver‘s “Towers”. The cover was fitting for the small Wisconsin city, as Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon grew up in Eau Claire. Trey closed out his set with “Limb By Limb”, “Chalk Dust Torture”, “Wilson”, and “Cavern”.
Trey reemerged and opened up his encore with “Wingsuit”, a tune that was requested by a fan earlier in the evening, before bringing the show to a close with “The Lizards” and “More.
