Trey Anastasio has released of Atriums, a suite of instrumental guitar compositions originally conceived and recorded as the entryway music for April’s four-night Phish run at Las Vegas, NV’s Sphere. Proceeds from the six-track release, available now on LivePhish and other major streaming services, will benefit the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program, the recently opened facility in Ludlow, VT offering a non-clinical program anchored in the 12 Steps, emotional sobriety, and mindfulness.
Among the many unique features of the state-of-the-art venue’s unique entertainment environment is the ability to program its atrium and public spaces. Trey Anastasio and his bandmates, long renowned for creating immersive concert experiences, took full advantage, utilizing sculpture, light, and sound to draw the hallways and atriums of the Sphere into the world of Phish.
Per a press release, “The six-part Atriums song suite was born out of years of experimentation at Trey’s soundchecks, where he explores the capabilities of his ever-expanding palate of effects. With Atriums, Anastasio has created atmospheric compositions awash with droning loops, echoes, and waves of tonal feedback layered with gentle, melodic fretwork. Each of the six Atriums compositions takes on a unique sonic hue, but together immerse the listener in a cohesive, expansive whole.”
Phish is preparing to take the stage for a special Divided Sky Foundation benefit run at Albany, NY’s MVP Arena (October 25th, 26th, 27th). Tickets to the Albany Phish shows go on sale on Friday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. ET here.
