UPDATE: More information from that Rolling Stone article has come to light, including the promoter’s ideas to maximize the venue’s space. Peter Shapiro said they’re “looking at going 360,” which would open up seats behind the stage, and are “going general admission” on the field, “to accommodate more people and have more of a vibe.”

Trey Anastasio also spoke about his decision to join the band, saying “I thought about it for a minute, tried to consider the implications,” but eventually said yes. He said that the band unanimously wanted him to play, and that the shows were “going to be a real positive experience.” He also added that Phil Lesh seemed “pretty definitive” when saying that these would be the last reunion shows.

Furthermore, Anastasio discussed the process of studying Jerry Garcia’s style. “I never sat down and studied what Jerry played until the last two weeks. It’s really been unbelievable,” Anastasio said. He and Bob Weir have been trading song lists, and will meet soon. Also, “the full band will rehearse in June a bit,” according to Anastasio.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio spoke about his role in the “Fare Thee Well” concerts, and revealed a bit of pertinent information for those phans eager to hear the band’s summer tour plans.

Within one sentence, the article says: “the week after the Chicago shows Anastasio will be back on the road with Phish.” We don’t know exactly when Phish will be revealing their tour dates, but with rumors of a Watkins Glen festival, and with Anastasio working with Tom Marshall, summer tour 2015 should be an exciting one!

Anastasio has also reportedly been practicing Grateful Dead songs daily in preparation for the upcoming reunion at Soldier Field in July.
