Turkuaz has shared the pro-shot video of their acoustic performance showcasing one of their older originals, “Desert Island”. The unplugged performance was recorded during the band’s recent appearance on the “Sugarshack Session” video series recorded in Miami, FL. The video is the fourth to be shared from the funk-rock band’s “unplugged” session, following the releases of Turkuaz’s bluegrass-inspired “Life In The City”, “European Festivity Nightmare”, and “The Question“.

The Turkuaz original finds relaxing new life with its acoustic interpretation. The song, which originally appeared on the colorful band’s self-titled 2011 studio album, settles its way into a steady groove with Dave Brandwein and Craig Brodhead both in sync on their acoustic guitars before the horns joined in. The band really takes “Desert Island” into the direction of a romantic island getaway as Shira Elias and Sammi Garett provide a layer of exotic vocal harmonies alongside Brandwein to go with the golden-lit backdrop of their performance environment.

Brandwein explained the band’s initial reluctance to participate in the performance series upon the release of the first video, saying, “We were hesitant to do this at first when we were told it was an ‘unplugged’ session. Our live show is very loud, in-your-face, and most of all, ELECTRIC! – in every sense of the word. But it ended up being an inspiring challenge and opportunity for us to do something totally new.”

Turkuaz recently announced their plans for a run of international tour dates scheduled for this fall, marking the ensemble’s debut performances in Japan and Australia. They are also preparing to head out on their 2019 summer tour. For ticketing and more information, head to Turkuaz’s website.
