Electro-funk quintet Tweed has announced that it will “press pause” following an upcoming show at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA with Space Bacon on Saturday, December 17th [get tickets].
Born in Delaware and bred in Philadelphia, the high-energy outfit has been sparking dance parties at festivals, clubs, and concert halls across the U.S. since forming in 2010. Back in 2020, Tweed released its debut album, Moves, a representative statement from a band marked just as much by its synth-forward, funk-jam musicality as by its whimsical demeanor and penchant for silliness.
The members of Tweed—AJ DiBiase (guitar, vocals), Joe Vela (drums, samples), Jon Tomczak (synth, vocals), Dan McDonald (bass, vocals), and Charlie Field (violin, percussion, guitar, vocals)—discussed the reasoning behind their decision to take a hiatus in a note posted to social media. Read the message from the band below and head here to read an outpouring of fond Tweed memories from fans in the wake of the announcement.
We have decided the show at Ardmore Music Hall on 12/17 will be one of our last for a while. We felt our friends and fans deserved an explanation for the reduced number of performances of late. We are shifting priorities in our lives and experimenting with new creative projects. This is not the end of Tweed, just a “press pause.” With this new chapter, we want to focus our energy on writing new music rather than rehearsing for shows.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the last ten years some of the best of our lives. We can’t wait to see you all next month! We’re fired up and we’ll bring the heat!
