Earlier this week, Twiddle announced a mammoth, 36-date tour that will take the Vermont quartet through much of fall 2021. Included on that lengthy list of tour dates is a special concert in Denver, CO that will see Twiddle team up with old friends Dopapod at the state-of-the-art Mission Ballroom on Saturday, November 6th [get your tickets here].

The two jam quartets share an extensive history together, having climbed through the ranks of the live music circuit during largely the same period. Over the years, members of both outfits have traded their fair share of sit-ins at headlining shows and festivals across the country.

After years of crossing paths on the road, the members of both Twiddle and Dopapod are able to seamlessly delve into each other’s songbooks. Here’s a clip of Dopapod guitarist Rob Compa sitting in on Twiddle’s “Latin Tang” at Stratton Mountain Resort back on March 10th, 2018. Even some snowflakes and a lingering winter chill couldn’t stop these musicians from collaborating.

Compa and Dopapod keyboardist Eli Winderman also joined Twiddle on another “Latin Tang” less than two months ago at Twiddle’s four-night Memorial Day celebration at Apply Valley Park in Lafayette, NY.

That spirit of musical familiarity goes both ways, as Twiddle guitarist Mihali Savoulidis showed back in 2015 when he joined Dopapod onstage at Trees in Dallas, TX for the D-pod classic “Picture in Picture”.

While members of both bands take their life’s work as musicians seriously, none of them take themselves too seriously, as showcased in Dopapod bassist Chuck Jones‘ sit-in with Twiddle on Dewey Cox chart-topper “Walk Hard” at College Street Music Hall in 2016.

Twiddle and Dopapod have also shared the stage for some large-scale tribute sets, many of which involved their friends in The Werks. The Dayton, OH-bred quartet loves to gather their friends together at the annual Werk Out Music & Arts Festival, and 2017 was no exception as The Werks, Twiddle, and Dopapod came together as Twerkapod to pay tribute to beloved hits from the ’90s. Listen to full audio of the set below, and don’t miss Twiddle bassist Zdenek Gubb taking lead vocals on Rammstein‘s “Du Hast”.

With nearly a decade and counting of musical camaraderie between Twiddle and Dopapod, there is sure to be some cross-pollination when the two bands take the stage at the Mission Ballroom in Denver on November 6th. Tickets for the show are on sale now here.
