Two men have been arrested for selling forged Phish tickets, via Craigslist, in upstate New York. This is a clear-cut case of why you should NEVER buy tickets off of Craiglist. Stick to your friends and CashOrTrade.org. This is the report, according to News10-ABC:
Colonie Police say they have arrested two people accused of selling forged Phish concert tickets.
On October 5th, authorities received a report from a victim who said they unknowingly bought two fake Phish Concert tickets for $200 on Craigslist. The tickets were purchased on October 4th in the parking lot of Colonie Center.
The ad offered the sale of floor seat tickets for the October 23rd show in Glens Falls. It also stated the owner of the tickets name was Greg.
Investigators contacted the seller on Craigslist on Tuesday, pretending to be interested in purchasing the tickets. Arrangements were made to meet in a Colonie Center parking lot to buy four forged concert tickets totaling $350.
When authorities arrived they arrested Carlton Turner, 27, and Omar Turner, 25, both of Schenectady. They have both been charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 3rd Degree and Petit Larceny, both misdemeanors. Carlton was involved in the October 4th and 8th transactions. Omar was only involved in Tuesday’s transaction.
The forged tickets were full page printouts that were created to look like they were from Ticketmaster. It was not determined by authorities how the suspects came into possession of the forged tickets.
Colonie Police are asking anyone who believes they are a victim of this scam to contact their local police department.
