The prog-jam sextet recently announced that drummer Kris Myers would miss the remainder of the band’s 2023 shows as he recovers from rotator cuff surgery. A slew of noteworthy drummers were tapped to fill in for Myers at the group’s upcoming tour dates including Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic), Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), Ben Atkind (Goose), and Jason Bonham.

The first few shows without Myers have seen various people try their hands at drumming for Umphrey’s including billed guest Duane Trucks, guitarist Jake Cinninger, percussionist Andy Farag, and Modern Drummer writer Ilya Stemkovsky. The band has yet to announce who will play drums for the Chicago New Year’s run, though lespecial drummer Rory Dolan has notably sat in with the band in the past.
