It’s been a busy week for Umphrey’s McGee. The band not only announced the details behind their annual UMBowl event, but they also revealed plans for a major summer tour. Having spent a few days off since their three-night stand in Aspen, CO, Umphrey’s McGee got back to work with a potent performance at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe last night.
The show opened with a first set of all originals, including opener “Bathing Digits” and favorites like “Tribute to the Spinal Shaft,” “Ringo,” and “Utopian Fir.” The second set brought more of the heat, opening up with “Cemetery Walk” and ending with, fittingly, “Cemetery Walk II.” Amid the continuous music came a cover of Frank Zappa’s “Dirty Love,” as well as “Phil’s Farm,” “Nemo,” “Dear Lord,” “Resolution” and “Much Obliged.” The band was seriously on fire, jamming with a passionate energy that UM fans have come to know and love.
Next up for Umphrey’s is a return to the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA, before the winter/spring tour wraps up in Los Angeles, CA at the Wiltern. The final show will be broadcast by SiriusXM Jam On, so don’t miss out!
