On October 22, 2004, Umphrey’s McGee played a memorable show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The show was full of great moments, but one particular guest turned the night into one for the books… Phil Lesh.
The Grateful Dead bassist came out for a version of “Robot World,” and stuck around as the band transitioned into the Dead classic “Franklin’s Tower.” The set also featured the debut of “Great American,” an instrumental named after the venue, and covers of Van Halen and Talking Heads sprinkled in throughout the show.
The archival release is available now via UMLive, on a variety of formats, and those with the UMLive app will have access to the recordings as well.
