On Sunday, Umphrey’s McGee returned to Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre for their third and final show of the weekend. For their second frame, the band offered up a special Led Zeppelin set with guest drummer Jason Bonham, which also included vocalist and frequent Bonham-collaborator James Dylan as well as guitarist Eric Krasno.

Umphrey’s McGee opened up their first set with “Bridgeless” before smoothly coasting into “Bad Friday”. The sextet continued with a paring of “Anchor Drops” and “It Doesn’t Matter”, with the latter featuring a tease of AC/DC‘s “Back In Black”. Following a heavy-hitting rendition of “Slacker”, the band brought their first set to a close with a smoothly-segued “Blue Echo” into “The Floor”.

Following a brief break, Umphrey’s emerged for their second set with Jason Bonham, son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, in tow. Umphrey’s McGee and Jason Bonham had previously offered up a Zeppelin set at LOCKN’ in August 2018. With Bonham and Dylan on stage, Umphrey’s opened up the set with “Immigrant Song”, which included the intro to “In The Light”. The band continued on with their debut performance of “Ramble On” before rockin’ their way through “How Many More Times”. Sans Dylan, Umphrey’s and Bonham moved forward with “Ten Years Gone” before Brendan Bayliss swapped out his electric guitar for an acoustic on “Hey, Hey What Can I Do” and “Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp”. Umphrey’s had last covered “Hey, Hey What Can I Do” in 2015, and “Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp” in 2010, a gap of 930 shows.

With Dylan rejoining the band, Umphrey’s dove into their biggest bust-out of the night with “No Quarter”, played for the first time since November 15th, 2005. Next, the all-star cast worked through “What Is and What Should Never Be”, marking the second Zeppelin debut of the evening. Umphrey’s then invited up guitarist Eric Krasno to join the party for “Whole Lotta Love” before closing things out with “Kashmir”.

Moving back into their regular six-piece arrangement, Umphrey’s McGee kicked off their third set with “Dump City”. A pairing of “Preamble” into “Mantis” followed, with the latter unfinished and featuring a jam on Miles Davis‘ “It’s About That Time”. The band continued on with “Front Porch”, which featured TLC‘s “Waterfalls”. Following “August”, Umphrey’s brought their third and final set of the night to a close with “Bridgeless”, highlighted by teases of Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”. To begin the encore, Bonham rejoined the band on their own “Conduit” before Dylan found his way back onstage to properly close out the night with one last Zeppelin tune, “The Song Remains The Same”.
