Umphrey’s McGee visited Savannah, GA over the weekend where the band played its first cover of Genesis‘ “That’s All” in ten years.
The cover arrived in the second set at the Johnny Mercer Theatre, amid what turned out to be a full-set sandwich of “Nothing Too Fancy”. Coming out of a healthy take on “Puppet String”, Joel Cummins launched into the iconic piano intro to the hit off Genesis’ self-titled 1983 album. Guitarist Jake Cinninger took lead vocals before handing them off to fellow guitarist Brendan Bayliss, while Cummins’ slinky organ work brought the cover home. Prior to Saturday night, Umphrey’s McGee last performed Genesis’ “That’s All” on May 2nd, 2015 at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, per All Things Umphrey’s.
