The long-awaited collaboration between guitar slinger Warren Haynes and bluegrass band Railroad Earth finally has a title and release date! Ashes & Dust will be released on July 24th via Concord Records.
The collaboration was hinted at last November, when RRE posted pictures with Haynes from the studio. In later interviews, Haynes specified that he was working on a solo album with support from Railroad Earth. The two entities performed together for an intimate concert at the McKittrick Hotel, which was filmed for a PBS broadcast.
Listen To Two New Warren Haynes Songs With Railroad Earth
Now, some eight months after the initial conversation, Haynes and RRE are ready to share their new material. According to an interview with Consequence of Sound, Haynes had dozens of songs written in the folk/Celtic style, and only now (presumably after the dissolution of the Allman Brothers) did he find the time to record them. CoS also has the leading single, “Spots of Time,” which was co-written by Phil Lesh and performed occasionally by the Allman Brothers.
