It looks like the 25th Warren Haynes Christmas Jam is going to expand to a full two days for the first time since the 20th installment. What started back in 1989 with Haynes inviting a variety of musicians to play in Asheville, NC at “The Christmas Jam: Musician’s X-Mas Reunion” has grown into a staple of the Asheville music scene over the years.
The concert acts as a benefit for the Asheville chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and has raised well over 1 million dollars for the charity. Haynes did not reveal the dates, but did confirm that it would be two days, while he was in town to receive an honrary degree from UNC Asheville the present the keys to a new Habitat for Humanity family.
Past performers at Christmas Jam include The Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne, the String Cheese Incident, John Paul Jones, Phil Lesh & Friends, Phish’s Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon, Derek Trucks, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Robert Randolph, Coheed & Cambria, and many others.
Check out what Warren and his wife Stefani Scamardo had to say about his honorary degree, Habitat for Humanity, and Xmas Jam:
