Jam band heavyweights moe. and Umphrey’s McGee teamed up last night for a special co-headlining show at Sharkey’s Summer Stage in Liverpool, NY (just outside Syracuse)—and as if that wasn’t enough of a treat, Warren Haynes stopped by to join the fun.

Umphrey’s kicked off the night with drummer Scotty Zwang (SunSquabi, Ghost Light) behind the kit. Following the recent departure of Kris Meyers, the band has performed with Zwang and Widespread Panic drummer Duane Trucks. Both have proved to be formidable substitutes for Meyers, with their balance of raw power, groove, and technical finesse. While the band hasn’t named a permanent replacement, Zwang is currently slated to play UM’s remaining 2025 tour dates.

Umphrey’s set the tone for the evening with a somewhat brief but powerful set anchored by a hard-rocking “Bridgeless”, which ironically featured a three-song detour bridging the beginning and end of the tune, namely, “Small Strides”, “40’s Theme”, and Band of Gypsys‘ “Power to Love”.

The band then ceded the stage to longtime friends and co-hosts of Illinois’ Summer Camp Music Festival (briefly known as Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie), moe. Towards the end of moe.’s set, which included a mix of fan favorites, new material, and songs from members Nate Wilson and Rob Derhak‘s solo projects, Warren Haynes surprised the crowd, stepping out to join moe. for a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s “No Quarter”.

After finishing the set, moe. returned for an encore along with Umphrey’s McGee, and the two bands closed out the night with an all-hands-on-deck performance of “Crosseyed and Painless” by Talking Heads.

Both moe. and Umphrey’s are set to perform at Northlands Music & Arts Festival, with moe. headlining the fest tonight, June 14th, at 7:15 and Umphrey’s following suit tomorrow night.
