Last night marked the annual GRAMMYs On The Hill event, merging members of Congress and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in what can only be described by the word awkward. The ceremony was held to honor the Zac Brown Band, and brought a bipartisan grouping of Congress members together, bound by their appreciation of music.

A number of artists were on hand for the event, including Smokey Robinson, Eddie Money, Robert “Kool” Bell of Kool & The Gang, Yolanda Adams, Jim Lauderdale, and, as the title mentions, guitar slinger Warren Haynes.

Haynes led a sing-a-long rendition of “The Weight” by The Band, which featured more than 50 Congress members singing the iconic tune. According to the report in WTOP News, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer were among those in the mix. Thus, the Pelosi-Haynes jam session.
