Watch Allen Toussaint Play “Get Out Of My Life, Woman” At “Dear Jerry” Tribute Concert [Pro-Shot]

Last May, an all-star cast of musicians teamed up to honor Jerry Garcia at the “Dear Jerry” tribute show. With dozens of amazing performers on hand, the night was a true celebration of all things Garcia, picking on songs from his years with the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and more.

One of the most unique performances of the night came from Allen Toussaint, who played his own song “Get Out Of My Life, Woman.” The song was played many times over with JGB in the 80’s and 90’s, making Toussaint’s original song a fitting tribute to the late great Garcia.

Just six months later, Toussaint would pass away on tour in Madrid, Spain, leaving behind a monumental legacy of New Orleans-based music. Naturally, Dead & Company took the moment to honor both Toussaint and Garcia with a rendition of that same song, “Get Out Of My Life, Woman.”
