Brittany Howard is on a roll! Just weeks after her band, the Alabama Shakes, won a handful of Grammys for their work on album Sound & Color, the powerful singer appeared on a very special Ray Charles tribute, hosted by the Smithsonian and held at the White House. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were on hand to witness the Smithsonian Salutes Ray Charles celebration, which featured performance from luminaries like Usher, Leon Bridges, Yolanda Adams, Demi Lovato, The Band Perry and more.
The full program can be viewed below, starting around the 1:26:00 mark. Howard comes in to sing “Unchain My Heart” (1:40:00). Later, Usher sings “Georgia On My Mind” (1:53:00), and Howard is joined by Demi Lovato, Andra Day and Yolanda Agams for “Heaven Help Us All” (2:16:00). Bridges makes his appearance for “Lonely Avenue” (2:21:00), before the grand finale, “What’d I Say?” (2:29:00), led by Usher and featuring just about everyone.
