Last weekend’s episode of 60 Minutes featured the one-and-only Danny Clinch, famed photographer known for his professional snaps of all genres in music history: rock-and-roll, pop, jazz, hip-hop, and, most recently, Phish. Anderson Cooper led the conversation, which was partly filmed during Phish’s New Year’s Eve concert at Madison Square Garden (pictured above).
In the twelve-minute profile, Clinch tells the stories of what it was like to get calls from Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and other great writers of music history. In addition to his love for photographing restored cars, Clinch also shares some of his more well-known “greatest hits,” including iconic stills of Gregg Allman in Savannah on a rainy day, and a famous photo of Tupac and his tattoos, to which Tupac wrote as a response, “If a picture is worth a thousand words, photographers are worth a million!”
After dedicating a life to capture these moments, Danny Clinch has come to this conclusion: “It doesn’t matter if it’s hip-hop, it doesn’t matter if it’s jazz, or anything in between. If it hits you right here, it’s good music.” We agree!
