The Red Hot Chili Peppers have always had interesting music videos, but this new video for “Go Robot” might be the weirdest. The band uses the video to recreate several iconic scenes from the 1977 classic disco movie Saturday Night Fever, even filming several scenes in their video at several locations where SNF was filmed.
Singer Anthony Keidis is the video’s star, and he really bares it all as he plays an almost-nude robot seeking acceptance in the world. He walks the streets, mostly ignored or disliked, before eventually ending up at a discoteque, where he is entranced by the lights and music and dance-moves. Eventually, he sees a female robot on the dance floor, and the two dance the night away having finally found each other.
