Last night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, hometown heroes The String Cheese Incident came out firing on all cylinders for the second of a three-night stand. A “Restless Wind” opener and “Best Feeling > Rain” set the tone for this Saturday night edition, as the vibe at the venue was palpable. The group brought out jazz virtuoso Kamasi Washington (who also opened the night) for a first set cover of John Coltrane‘s “Impressions”, which saw the saxophone player do what he does best, and eventually led into singer Sheryl Renee coming out to join the fray on Sly and the Family Stone‘s “I Want To Take You Higher” to end the set.

A well-played “Beautiful”, which saw some really nice jamming from the entirety of SCI, led into Washington once again joining the group on “45th of November” and staying on for what was a monster “Bumpin’ Reel” that had The Rocks shaking. An always welcome “Colorado Bluebird Sky” shined bright and brought back the bluegrass, while a beautifully played “Sirens > Desert Dawn” closed out the second set properly.

Renee came back out for the encore of Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams”, and SCI ended the evening with their new song, “Believe”. All in all, this was a solid show front to back. After two stellar nights, it looks like night three will be one grand finale.

Check out footage of SCI with Washington playing “Impressions,” below.
