It was a beautiful June night in Morrison, Colorado: clear skies, cool mountain air, and 10,000 weirdos ready to worship at the altar of accordion-fueled parody as “Weird Al” Yankovic returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on his Bigger & Weirder Tour. It had been six years since Al hit the big stage with his full-blown, multimedia, musical comedy extravaganza, and he made up for it in spades with an evening of costume changes, slapstick visuals, pop culture carnage, and, of course, polka.
The night kicked off with the gloriously strange Puddles Pity Party, a 7-foot-tall sad clown who crooned through a hilariously heartbreaking mashup of “Gilligan’s Island” and “Stairway to Heaven”. He followed that up with an emotional rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” featuring a Kevin Costner video montage before diving headfirst into some Metallica. It was perfectly absurd.
Then came the main event. Weird Al strutted through the bowels of Red Rocks while belting out “Tacky”, his gloriously cringe-inducing parody of Pharrell’s “Happy”. The camera tracked him as he danced and mugged for every crevice of the amphitheater before exploding onto the stage.
The musical comedy legend continued with “Mission Statement”, a perfect parody of CSNY that had him juxtaposing corporate jargon with ‘60s folk. From there, he launched into “Polkamania!”, an accordion-powered mega-medley that mashed up Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy”, Adele’s “Hello”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”, Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito”, and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” into one glorious, hyperventilating accordion whirlwind.
After a one-beat “drum solo” from drummer Jim “Bermuda” Schwartz that drew a roar of laughter from the crowd, Yankovic dove into fan-favorites like “Everything You Know Is Wrong” and the doo-wop torch song “One More Minute”. Al went full Cobain for “Smells Like Nirvana”, complete with mumbled lyrics and water-gargling theatrics, along with a flannel shirt, a blonde wig, and a guitar strapped around his shoulder.
A string of vintage TV clips gave him time for a costume change before he and his band returned as Devo clones for “Dare to Be Stupid”, with the band decked out in matching yellow jumpsuits.
Then came the medley to end all medleys. “Party in the CIA” had Al and crew dressed in Men in Black-style spy suits while paying hilarious homage to Miley Cyrus. That begat “It’s All About the Pentiums” en route to “Bedrock Anthem”, a fiery tribute to both Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Flintstones; “My Bologna”, Al’s OG parody of “My Sharona”; “Ricky”, with Al’s bandmate in full Lucy Ricardo garb; the Billy Joel storytelling-meets Spider-Man of “Ode to a Superhero”; and the ice cream-flavored Joan Jett parody “I Love Rocky Road”.
Al slipped on MJ’s iconic red leather for “Eat It”, and kept the ’80s vibes alive with “Like a Surgeon”, scrubbed up and ready to operate. “Word Crimes” got the grammar nerds waving their hands in delight, while “Canadian Idiot” had him donning a maple-leaf-emblazoned blazer and ranting about hockey.
The crowd lost it for “Fat” as Al emerged from another video montage in a full-blown fat suit. Another montage played while Al deflated, giving everyone a breather before diving back into deeper cuts like the theme song to Captain Underpants his Weird: The Al Yankovic Story biopic original “Now You Know”. He even threw in a cover of Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al”—in case anyone wasn’t sure how to address him in public.

More fan treats followed, from “Skipper Dan” and the Backstreet Boy parody of “eBay” to the absurd ballad “Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me.”
For “White & Nerdy”, Al rode dirty on a Segway with a durag on his head and heavy jewelry around his neck, nailing his verses while stunt-cruising across the stage. “Amish Paradise” followed, a solemn yet hilarious hymn performed with Al and the band in full Amish garb.

After band intros, the encore kicked off with “We All Have Cell Phones”, during which Al and the band emerged in full Star Wars cosplay and the crowd turned into a sea of twinkling phone lights. Then came “The Saga Begins”, his iconic “American Pie” Star Wars retelling. Al followed that up with a winding finale of “Yoda”, his ode to The Kinks’ “Lola”, featuring a psychedelic gibberish interlude that turned the historic rocks into a cosmic polka party.
