Fort Collins, CO-based bluegrass outfit WhiteWater Ramble recently released their first single in six years, “Hollow”, ft. The Infamous Stringdusters‘ Chris Pandolfi on banjo.
WhiteWater Ramble is the heartproject of Patrick Sites on mandolin and vocals, who brings a rotating cast of musicians together, but primarily partners with guitarist Damon Wood, formerly of the James Brown Band.
“Hollow” is a heart-wrenching new ballad accompanied by an intense and powerful music video. Recently named one of Colorado’s Top 10 bluegrass bands, WhiteWater Ramble has spent the last several years touring, playing tribute shows around Colorado, and honing their stand-out “dancegrass” amalgamation of styles, but with this cinematic short story, they tell a tragic tale of two lovers and bring new meaning to the song’s lyrics.
Patrick Sites shared his thoughts on the new tune, stating,
This is a completely new dynamic, lineup and focus for us. The energy is far different than ever before and I’ve never been so nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. For the first time in the band’s history, I was really the driving force behind the project as both a writer and producer, which allowed me to reflect on the world around us. The single deals with a tough subject matter but is incredibly relevant because of our daily news cycle related to violence from guns. I’ve tried to tell a traditional bluegrass murder ballad lyrically but then putting that into a modern concept with a cinematic video. “Hollow,” along with other forthcoming singles will challenge viewers both the lyrically and visually.
